GUIDED TOURS OF THE HAWAII THEATRE

HAMAKUA COFFEE TOUR

NATURE CONSERVANCY OF HAWAII HIKE
Place: Kanepuu Preserve
The Nature Conservancy's literature states: With the addition of beautifully designed and informative trail signs, you can take a self guided tour through Kanepuu Preserve between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm (hunting may be occurring at other times). The short trail, which takes about 10-15 minutes to walk, is easily accessible off the main road out to Keahikawelo (Garden of the Gods). The trail is designed to increase the awareness and appreciation of the dry forest of Kanepuu, one of the last remaining examples of the type of forest that once covered the dry lowlands of all the main Hawaiian Islands. Depending on available resources, it may be possible for parties of five or more to arrange for a guided hike. NATURE CONSERVANCY OF HAWAII HIKES
Date: Monthly
Place: Kamakou and Moomomi Preserves
Nature Conservancy staff and volunteers lead a monthly hike into the lush rainforest of the Kamakou Preserve and into the Moomomi Preserve, a last stronghold of a major Hawaiian coastal ecosystem that contains numerous archaeological sites. Hike leaders will meet you at the Molokai airport at 8:30 am, serve as interpretive guides throughout the hike, and return you to the airport by 3:30 pm. Reservations and a deposit are required. SEA CHEST SECRET EXHIBITION

A Kauai Children's Discovery Museum Hands-On Learning Adventure. The exhibition is an interactive "maritime mystery” that challenges visiting families to figure out who wrote an intriguing 18th century sailor's diary found washed ashore in a sea chest. As guests visit each exhibit station, they’ll learn more about shipboard life during the golden age of ocean exploration. SUNSET CLIFF-DIVING
Date: Every evening
Place: Sheraton Maui, Kaanapali (West Maui)
The Sheraton Maui rests atop the famed black rock, Puu Kekaa, site of many Hawaiian legends. A torchlighting and cliff diving ceremony is enacted each evening right before sunset. The public can watch a young man in ancient Hawaiian garb light torches as he runs to the rock's summit. Perched at the top, he dives off the cliff into the calm waters surrounding the landmark. THE MAUI PANIOLO DANCE ASSOCIATION

VOLCANO ART CENTER

WALKING TOUR - OLD WAIMEA SUGAR PLANTATION

Volunteers lead you back in time through Waimea Plantation Cottages, a vacation resort of restored plantation houses, and the neighboring Waimea Sugar Co. "camp" of houses dating to the turn of the century. Learn about the immigrants that came from all over the world to build the sugar industry. Waimea Mill Sugar Company (1884-1969) was a family operation and was for many years the smallest sugar plantation in the Hawaiian Islands.
